It trains the strokes you hit most: forehand, backhand and volley, plus timing and footwork, with a ball that keeps coming back. It does not copy the glass walls, lobs or overheads, and it does not replace a match. It gives you hundreds of extra strokes between bookings.
A clear strip about 6 m (20 ft) long on flat, hard ground, with room to swing on both sides. A driveway, patio or garage floor works best. Grass does not bounce the ball well. Keep windows, cars and people out of the swing area.
Both work. Sand makes the base heavier and steadier. Water is easier to empty when you want to take it with you.
It can on a hard hit. To keep it still, fill it all the way with sand and set it on the anti-slip rubber pad, on flat, hard ground. It is made for steady rally strokes, not full-power smashes.
It comes back when you hit through the middle of the ball, slightly up and long enough to bounce once. Heavy topspin or slice makes the cord catch the ball. Give yourself 10 to 15 minutes to find the rhythm, then start counting your rally.
It can twist as you play. The metal swivel hook on the base turns with the cord, so it twists less. When you finish, wind the cord around the base.
It depends on the ground. Felt wears down faster on rough concrete than on smooth pavers or a court. Your order comes with a spare ball and cord to swap in.
No. It is a yellow felt ball, tennis type, made for the trainer. Hit it with your own padel racket. A tennis racket works too.
